Mary Ward is a visual artist residing in Knoxville TN. Her work is a nudge to the duality of high art versus low art, fine art versus craft, and how we attach specific value to nearly everything in our lives. Her Appalachian heritage has been a strong influence on her approach and artistic choices a love for anything kitsch or weird, tacky and cheap. . Her fierce desire to make things with her hands is her identity and she has been able to recently make it full time by focusing on murals and hand lettered signs and menus. Mary would like to make art more accessible to the non artist and tear down alot of misconceived ideas of what art is and what it can do. She is a champion of bad art (what is "bad") and an advocate of your personal artistic goals and ideas and can make them happen.
